Typ semicki. No to bierzemy Sonię. [...]
Mrs. and Mr. Pluchocki, who were renting some land from Mrs. Stefania, informed her that Eneasz and Robin Nitsons were hiding themselves with their niece Sonia Tajz in a small dug- out in the forest in Majkuny. The brothers wanted to provide better living conditions for the girl and asked the Pluchocki to let Sonia join to the group staying at Orwidow.
Unfortunatly nobody knew what to do with the young Jewish girl.
"She has no stocks, speaks poorly Polish, because she went to a Jewish school in Vilanus. She's very pretty. She is 15 years old- a beautiful girl. Semite type. So let's take Sonia. But what to do with Sonia? Sonia mustn't be shown to people, she has no stocks and I haven't got a place to hide her. Let me repeat once again, I cannot have anyone hidden, because my house has not a basement, it is surrounded by a big orchard, just behind the forest, there is a village, there is a road through the forest which is used to go to the market place in Vilnus and Niemenczyn etc. It is not a place where you can hide people."
It was decided that Sonia and Januszek (a polish youngster sent by his mother to Orwidów for security reasons) will pasture cows in the meadows behind the forest. The children were forbidden to come back before dusk.
"You should take them out in the morning and come back in the evening because Sonia is not allowed to be seen."
